Sophos Unveils Hosted Version of Mobile Device Management Solution

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Devices like the iPhone (News - Alert), iPad and Android, whether they're company issued or personally owned, are more than likely being used for work. Users have to safeguard their mobile devices and keep the sensitive business data on them safe. With its Mobile Control Solution, Sophos can help make it easy for companies to give mobile workers all the apps they need and still enforce a consistent security policy for smartphones and tablets.

Recently, the company announced the hosted version of its award-winning mobile device management (MDM) solution, Sophos Mobile Control. According to the company, this new version allows the partners to provide clients a choice of delivery models.

Sophos Mobile Control is based on the recently released Sophos Mobile Control 2.5 as a Service, and it allows companies to rapidly and easily install an MDM solution without any changes to their existing IT infrastructures. This eliminates any further management burden on IT, the company stated in a release.

Matthias Pankert, vice president, Product Management at Sophos said, "The launch of Sophos Mobile Control as our first hosted service represents a significant milestone in our product strategy. Security applications are rapidly moving toward the cloud to provide flexibility and scalability, which today's businesses demand. With limited resources and a multitude of security solutions to manage, mobile devices in particular are often left uncontrolled. Our SaaS (News - Alert)-based solution ensures that these devices are controlled and managed, even for small groups of users within a company.”

Today's users work everywhere, and Sophos helps companies keep them productive and secure. It protects whatever needs protecting in your environment: computers, laptops, virtual desktops and servers, networks, mobile devices, remote and wireless communication, as well as your Web and e-mail traffic.
