SpringCM Unveils Mobile Device Management Capabilities

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Recently, SpringCM, a provider of cloud content services, announced its latest release with new mobile device management (MDM) capabilities. These abilities facilitate companies to restrict the risks of using personal devices for file sharing.

Without affecting personal apps or content, companies can now control which devices are allowed to store content.

A modern day MDM system safeguards, monitors, manages and supports mobile devices installed across mobile operators, service providers and companies.

MDM functionality usually consists of over-the-air distribution of applications, data and configuration settings for various types of mobile devices.

The new service enhances the release of SpringCM Sync features in July 2012. That release had given companies control over the type of content that can or cannot be synced.

Based on file, folder or attribute such as type of document, it had also allowed them to selectively delete specific content across all devices.

“While it makes businesses more productive and responsive, the explosion of using personal devices creates a hazard for CIOs, with valuable enterprise content being unmanaged on lost devices and former employees’ home laptops and iPads,” said Christopher Junker, CEO at SpringCM. “When it comes to working with content anytime, anywhere, SpringCM gives business people unmatched capabilities and organizations unmatched control.”

The company also recently got a service auditor's review for both the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) 16 Type II and for the Service Organization Controls (SOC) 2 Type II. For business applications impacting financial integrity, SSAE 16 compliance validates SpringCM's ability to serve public companies. For all of its business customers, SOC 2 compliance reinforces SpringCM's commitment to security, confidentiality, availability, privacy and processing integrity.
