By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Mobile device management solutions from MobileIron now supports Windows Phone (News - Alert) 8, enabling mobile IT teams to add Windows Phone 8 devices to their mobile environments.

Customers can now secure and manage Windows Phone 8 apps and devices without the need for third party tools. They also benefit from the policy, enrollment, selective wipe and certificate capabilities of the mobile device management solution from the company.

Mobile device management software from the company uses the cloud for saving vital information securely. By utilizing this new resource, it could eliminate many issues that may arise when storing employee’s personal data.

MobileIron also provides mobile application management (MAM) features on Windows Phone 8 as they do on other operating systems.

"Windows Phone 8 marks a new step in mobile," said Bob Tinker, CEO, MobileIron, in a statement. "Microsoft (News - Alert), working with partners like Nokia, has created an incredibly innovative user experience. Our customers are thrilled that they will be able to secure and manage Windows Phone 8 apps and devices through MobileIron."

"By working with MobileIron, we can provide a complete solution for the mobile enterprise,” added Eric Hermelee, senior director, Windows Phone. “Users can take advantage of the new Outlook and Office Mobile collaboration and productivity tools built into Windows Phone 8 and Mobile IT can secure the data and protect user privacy."

According to David Mason, head of Business Mobility Marketing, Nokia (News - Alert), enterprises are required to offer access to phones, applications and experiences people want to use at a personal level. The challenge for enterprises has been combining that with a platform that then offers enterprise application delivery and security for company data.

"The introduction of the Nokia Lumia 920, the world's most innovative smartphone, and the Nokia Lumia 820, brings innovation like wireless charging to mid-tier price points, provides employees with leading smartphone experiences, while Windows Phone 8 provides the reassurance that enterprises require," Mason commented.

On November 1, MobileIron is schedule to host a webinar on what windows Phone 8 means for the enterprise. To register for the not-to-miss event, click here.
