AirWatch (News - Alert), a provider of mobile security management and mobile-device management solutions to support Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), has formed a partnership with Samsung to deliver an integrated mobile management solution for enterprise-ready Android (News - Alert) deployments.
AirWatch has integrated with Samsung KNOX, an end-to-end secure solution that provides “security hardening from the hardware through to the application layer,” according to a company statement. John Marshall (News - Alert), president and CEO of AirWatch, noted that Samsung KNOX allows businesses and government institutions to adopt new mobile device types with enterprise-grade security into their mobile ecosystems.
Thanks to the integration with Samsung KNOX, AirWatch can deliver the flexibility to implement and manage diverse mobile operating systems and platform iterations through strong OEM integration.
“Samsung SAFE and KNOX management support provide our customers additional options to protect personal data while ensuring corporate data loss prevention, especially for BYOD programs,” Marshall added.
Samsung KNOX not only retains full compatibility with Android and the Google (News - Alert) ecosystem but also drives fundamental security and management enhancements. The platform consists of a unique application container technology that enables enterprises to support both BYOD and Corporate-Liable models without compromising corporate security or employee privacy.
AirWatch already implements the most Samsung SAFE features of any EMM provider.
With KNOX support, the mobile security management provider now also allows enterprises and government institutions to create container on the device, enforce container passcode, configure corporate e-mail in the container, set VPN policies at the application level, allow ability to silently add, remove and update apps in the container, enable single sign-on, and encrypt by default.
“AirWatch has over 20 years of experience in true enterprise mobile solutions,” said Injong Rhee, senior vice president, B2B R&D Group, Samsung Electronics. “Partnership with AirWatch will bring reassurance and convenience for IT departments looking to implement and manage Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) strategies.”
AirWatch recently entered into an international partnership with Asian telecommunications group SingTel (News - Alert) to deliver its mobile device management solutions to that company.
