Funambol Announces Availability of New OneMediaHub App for iOS

By Sujata Garud, TMCnet Contributor

Funambol (News - Alert), a provider of white-label personal cloud solutions for mobile providers, announced that its new OneMediaHub app for iOS is available for immediate deployment. OneMediaHub for iOS supports documents and calendars in addition to pictures, videos and contacts.

OneMediaHub works across the broadest range of mobile devices, including iOS, Android (News - Alert), BlackBerry, Symbian, Windows PCs, Macs and feature phones. It enables mobile providers to deploy their own branded personal cloud service, enabling users to easily secure and access important content across multiple brands of devices.

OneMediaHub for iOS automatically and wirelessly syncs important user data and content on iOS devices with the cloud and across services such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube (News - Alert), Gmail and Outlook. Unlike device-specific personal clouds, OneMediaHub works across all major ecosystems of mobile phones, tablets and personal computers. Unlike file-centric personal clouds, OneMediaHub supports more than files and enables an optimized mobile user experience e.g. by displaying visual thumbnails of rich media on mobile devices rather than just filenames.

Hal Steger, VP Marketing of Funambol, said, "Mobile providers need key differentiators and offering a white-label multi-siloed personal cloud service is a top priority. OneMediaHub helps providers to attract and retain customers by supporting more types of content across all major mobile devices and by going to market with their own brand to build customer loyalty."

Recently, Funambol published the results of a worldwide survey of consumers where it asked about their views on personal cloud storage (PCS) services. The survey asked 42,500 consumers about PCS services. Seventy-four percent stated that they would utilize a PCS service from their operator. Seventy-seven percent responded that this would make them less likely to switch operators if they used their operator's PCS service, the company stated in a release.
