Dialogic BorderNet 4000 Session Border Controller Achieves Certification from Miercom

By Beecher Tuttle, TMCnet Contributor

Dialogic's (News - Alert) newly-launched BorderNet 4000 Session Border Controller (SBC) has been awarded with the Performance Verified designation for overall performance, scalability and resiliency by independent test lab Miercom, the company announced early this morning.

By passing the Miercom evaluation, Dialogic's latest member of the BorderNet family was able to successfully withstand a wide range of malicious attacks and extreme load conditions while maintaining a high level of performance.

In validating the new product, Miercom CEO Robert Smithers pointed to the SBC's advanced security features, highlighted by its real-time inspection, multi-level traffic management and adaptive overload controls features.

“The BorderNet 4000 SBC delivered impressive performance and it proved impervious to attempts to compromise its performance with attack traffic,” Smithers noted in a statement.

Dialogic's new SBC supports 600 signaling and media sessions per second and scales up to 32,000 simultaneous sessions, making it one of the most robust one-rack units on the market today, says Dialogic.

The appliance sports four 1+1 protected 1GigE interfaces and features customizable signaling and media topology hiding, as well as redundant hot swappable power supplies and hard drives. Dialogic says that the SBC's hitless, high availability configuration option provides carrier-grade 99.999% performance.

New to Dialogic's latest member of the SBC family is an advanced web-based user interface and management dashboard, a menu-driven SIP header manipulation tool, and intuitive configuration and provisioning components for easy set up and installation. The SIP header manipulation tool is designed for service providers that need to connect assorted SIP-based networks with different signaling characteristics while delivering end-to-end IP voice services across a variety of service provider domains.

“The BorderNet 4000 SBC is a great addition to the BorderNet family of SBC solutions,” added Harold Klett, VP and GM of the Service Provider Infrastructure Unit at Dialogic. “The BorderNet 4000 SBC incorporates innovative patent-pending technology from Dialogic and was designed to align with next gen, 3G and 4G requirements making it a future proof solution well suited for both fixed and mobile service provider applications.”

The successful testing of the BorderNet 4000 SBC comes at a good time for Dialogic as service providers have begun to migrate toward next-generation networks to compensate for the near-insatiable demand for bandwidth-hungry services.

“Session border controllers are an integral component for service providers as they retool their existing voice networks in order to support next gen services and Voice over LTE (VoLTE),” says Diane Myers, Directing Analyst for VoIP and IMS at Infonetics (News - Alert). “The BorderNet 4000 SBC fits in well with this service provider strategy by focusing on security, scalability, and signaling interworking, as well as ease-of-use to help this transition.”
