Leviton Launches New Videos, Diagrams to Integrate Smartphones, Other Devices with Home Network

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Leviton has announced it now provides new resources for integrating smartphones and other devices with a home network – something the company claims new videos and wiring diagrams make very easy.

Officials with Leviton said the new materials provide detailed information on connecting devices using a set-top box like Roku or Apple (News - Alert) TV, or through a Wi-Fi connection using an Apple AirPort Express or AirPlay-enabled receiver.

The new wiring scenarios are designed to provide smartphone convenience and connected home performance, according to company officials. Each scenario features a Leviton Structured Media enclosure to serve as the nerve center of the home network – the hub for Internet, video, voice and multi-room audio distribution.

"Starting with a Leviton Structured Media enclosure makes the initial installation quicker and easier," Yuna Shin, connected home product manager for Leviton Network Solutions (News - Alert), said in a statement. Shin said that it also provides homeowners with a unique opportunity to easily make moves, additions or changes as their home network evolves.

Leviton Network Solutions, a division of Leviton Manufacturing, manufactures high-performance data connectivity for customers worldwide, including complete network infrastructure systems for the enterprise, data center, government, education, health care and residential markets.

TMCnet reported last month that Leviton Network Solutions, a division of Leviton Manufacturing, has launched the Mobile Device Station. The innovative machine, a convenient wall-mounted cradle, provides storage for mobile devices and their charging cables and can attach to any single-gang electrical box or low voltage mud-ring. No double-gang box or new holes are required.

Officials with Leviton Network said the Mobile Device Station is designed to fit most mobile phones, including the iPhone and many Android (News - Alert) phones.

The station can also be installed next to a Leviton local source input, making it easy to use a smartphone or portable music player for multi-room home audio.
