Mobile VoIP solutions provider REVE Systems offers an a-la-carte` menu including Mobile VoIP products and applications for middle and large IP service providers.
According to new reports, the market for mobile VoIP is projected to hit close to 139 million mobile VoIP users by 2014 – with growing social networking services pushing the trend forward.
Recently, REVE Systems offered a chance for those in Bangladesh to hear about new opportunities in the VoIP market with a special seminar, “Outsourcing Opportunities in VoIP Industry.” M. Rezaul Hassan, CEO of REVE Systems took time recently to answer a few questions on the topic and the company’s participation at BASIS SoftExpo.
Our exchange follows:
REVE Systems recently organized a seminar during BASIS Softexpo’2011; can you provide some details on what the seminar was about?
During BASIS SoftExpo, which is the largest ICT event of Bangladesh, we organized a seminar titled “Outsourcing Opportunities in VoIP Industry.” The seminar was attended by former president of Tata Teleservices (News - Alert), India- Sukanta Dey, Managing Director of Agni Systems Ltd., of Bangladesh, Abdus Salam and former president of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information (BASIS) Habibulla N. Karim as panelists. The seminar covered all the aspects of outsourcing opportunities in the VoIP Industry and there were also many questions addressed regarding government representatives, asking for government’s support, legalization of VoIP in Bangladesh and other regulatory hindrances in this segment. Overall, this seminar was a huge success and we received requests to organize the seminar in other countries as well.
Outsourcing business opportunities in the VoIP industry are expected to touch more than $1 billion by 2015, can you talk a little about what outsourcing opportunities there are for VoIP industry?
As you said, the global VoIP industry is expected to get a significant share of the estimated $1Bn voice market by 2015 and the Bangladeshi IT outsourcing industry is more than ready to grab this opportunity. There are numerous outsourcing opportunities in VoIP like- customer support, helpdesk, technical support, switch management, vendor management & buying, product development & customization, device development, and more. In addition, this describes the job opportunities and business avenues that Bangladeshi entrepreneurs can generate in coming years.
Gartner (News - Alert) recently declared Bangladesh a top outsourcing destination; can you comment on that recognition?
Listed in Gartner Inc.’s top 30 IT outsourcing destinations, Bangladesh has a right combination of skilled man power in the IT & Telecommunication domains and is well-placed to tap this opportunity. The country is emerging as an outsourcing hub and I think that outsourcing to Bangladesh will bring lots of economic growth and will also open new job avenues for the local population.
Mobile VoIP solutions are especially important today – can you explain why?
Mobile VoIP solutions have brought the freedom that no other mobile communication app could bring. The essence lies in the economics of mobile VoIP. Not only it is cheaper than the usual means of mobile communications, but it has the right combination of features that any regular mobile communication service would offer. A significant polarization has also been seen in last few years as people are ditching their PSTN and regular phone lines.
How do you think Bangladeshi entrepreneurs can best prepare for this market increase?
Bangladesh is a perfect location to tap this billion dollar opportunity. Despite the fact that VoIP is considered unethical and illegal in Bangladesh, if regulatory authorities ensure a business-friendly environment, there is a chance to make a billion dollar business by 2015. The government, with suggestions from entrepreneurs, needs to prepare the right kind of regulatory parameters so that they can capitalize on this opportunity at appropriate time.
What are some of the strengths in the Bangladesh IT industry that have lead to their recognition as an outsourcing hub?
The command over language, educational system, infrastructure, cultural compatibility, global and legal maturity as well as a trained labor pool and intellectual property privacy are just a few important factors that have lead to this recognition as an outsourcing hub.
