REVE Systems to Exhibit Upgraded IP-Softswitch and Mobile VoIP Solutions

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

Singapore-based, mobile VoIP solution provider REVE Systems has announced its participation at the 19th Convergence (News - Alert) India 2011. The event will be held in New Delhi from Mar. 24-26, and is a three day exhibition with a strong international presence and a specific focus on exhibitors from China, Taiwan, Japan and the U.S.

The event’s theme this year is, “NextGen (News - Alert) Applications & Services...Empowering A Billion Lives,” and will include speakers from government and industry sectors sharing their expertise on a number of topics important to senior level executives, experts, peers and partners.

REVE Systems plans to exhibit its new, upgraded IP-softswitch and mVoIP solutions during the event. This announcement was made by company officials today during a press conference. Company officials also said they intend to make a few announcements like the launch of a mobile recharge facility for VoIP service providers.

To find out more about the upcoming participation at the show, I took the time to ask Sanjit Chatterjee (News - Alert), director of Global Marketing at REVE Systems a few questions on the topic.

Our exchange follows:

Can you offer some background on the mobile VoIP market globally? What are some of the current trends you are seeing?

The global mobile VoIP market is growing at a faster rate than the regular voice & mobile communications industry and is expected to be worth $32.2 billion by 2013. Considering consumer choice leading to higher adoption rates of mVoIP usage, it is projected that by 2019, half of all mobile calls will be made over IP. Consequently, VoIP service providers are aggressively offering mVoIP as an alternative to consumers. Globally, VoIP service providers have started offering visual or video based communications, three way conferencing and converged services as part of their mVoIP portfolio.

How is REVE Systems involved in the global VoIP market?  What solutions do you offer to meet the market need?

REVE Systems offers VoIP service providers the support they need for the shift to mobile VoIP with their iTel Mobile Dialer Express, a mobile application that makes it possible to use VoIP via any mobile phone and that can be branded by operators.

Other products offered by REVE Systems include – iTel switch Plus- a carrier grade softswitch with integrated billing system; iTel mVoIP solutions, tunneling and bandwidth saver products and a complete package of VoIP solutions for MVNOs.

As the market for smartphones grows and mobile networks become more advanced, is there a particular growth being seen in mobile VoIP?

Increased smartphone adoption will bring a jump in mVoIP users. mVoIP will facilitate peer-to-peer mobile calling between users who are on data using 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi or GPRS on their mobile phone. ITSPs who are offering VoIP can start offering mVoIP to mobile consumers as they see smartphone users as potential customers. mVoIP requires a compatible handset with data connection (3G/Wi-Fi/GPRS etc) enabled in it.REVE Systems’ iTel Mobile Dialer Express is a unique mobile client which facilitates VoIP calling on more than 300 compatible handsets including smartphones and low end Symbian (News - Alert) or Windows mobile handsets. iTel Mobile Dialer Express which is being used by VoIP service providers across 60 countries and consumes less than 120 kb space on the mobile handset, is also known as  the lightest Mobile Dialer in the Industry.
