Growth Ahead in Mobile VoIP, Hosted Softswitch Markets

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

The market is looking strong for those vendors focused on the mobile VoIP and hosted softswitch markets. Infonetics Research (News - Alert) recently released its findings as part of the firm’s VoIP and UC Services and Subscribers Market Share and Forecast report. Not only are consumers demanding access to new technologies, dynamic suppliers are stepping up, offering next generation solutions.

As noted by Infonetics press release, a cumulative $377 billion is expected to be spent on business and residential VoIP services between 2012 and 2016, spending that includes mobile VoIP.

Also according to Infonetics, as many as 20 percent of all new IP-PBX (News - Alert) lines are purchased as part of an outsourced contract or managed service. As a result, the hosted softswitch market is the largest segment of business VoIP services. And, as mobile VoIP demand continues to grow, SIP trunking revenue is also growing. The industry segment reported 23 percent in the first half of 2012, compared with the second half of 2012.

“The SIP trunking and hosted UC segments were marked by strong growth and dynamic supplier landscapes in the first half of 2012,” Diane Myers, principal analyst for VoIP, UC, and IMS at Infonetics Research, said. “Beyond traditional operators and service providers, we’re seeing a growing number of PBX/UC vendors, enterprise agents, system integrators, and resellers expanding into hosted UC offerings.”

Such findings highlight the success and opportunity for companies like REVE Systems. As consumers and professionals become more mobile, the demand for inexpensive, high-access mobile VoIP is growing.

To meet that demand, REVE Systems is offering solutions such as the iTel Mobile Dialer Express that allows users to leverage their mobile phones for VoIP calls; the iTel Call Back Dialer that enables the use of any regular call back service from a mobile phone; and iTel PIN Protector to keep mobile users and their information safe while on the go.

The company’s hosted softswitch solutions extend retail switch solutions in a distributed architecture for those customers seeking to brand their own solution; a codec converter to allow for different versions of codecs on the platform; and a dialer application that allows calls to be made straight from the PC when connected to the Internet.

So popular is the demand for mobile VoIP and hosted softswitch solutions that REVE Systems is focused on serving customers throughout the global marketplace. In fact, the company recently announced that its growth has spanned 70 different countries. Throughout the last eight years, the Singapore-based company has positioned itself as one of the most preferred platforms for VoIP carriers and continues to focus on its core customer base in Asia and the Middle East, while extending reach to support those in North America, Latin America and Europe.
