Global IP telecommunication service provider, SkyVision (News - Alert) Global Networks Ltd., has recently successfully acquired Afinis Communication SA from Monaco Telecom SAM, a subsidiary of Cable & Wireless Communications Plc.
Afinis Communication is a communications provider that delivers world-class service to large enterprises in Africa. Some of its solutions include a fully managed MPLS network as well as value added services such as cellular backhauling, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) connectivity and security.
In line this newly inked acquisition, Afinis’s local offices and licensing in Burkina Faso, Guinea and Senegal will now be owned by SkyVision and will carry the SkyVision brand.
Afinis will also bring complementary and valuable capabilities to SkyVision and will offer immediate benefits to its potential and existing customer base. The company’s strong presence in Africa's French speaking countries will prove complementary to SkyVision's extensive market position in Nigeria, East, Central and Southern Africa.
In a statement, Doron Ben'Sira, CEO of SkyVision Global Networks, said, "Afinis is a leader in the francophone market where it has built a strong market presence and a deep understanding of corporate market requirements. Our vision is to leverage Afinis' extensive knowledge, particularly in Oil & Gas, mining and financial services. We look forward to welcoming the Afinis team into SkyVision and to continue offering customers the superior service they are accustomed to."
He further added, "Following our recently established subsidiary, SkyVision South Africa, the acquisition supports SkyVision's goal of firmly establishing the company as one of largest satellite operators in emerging markets offering true Pan'African coverage and presence."
SkyVision's international MPLS backbone connects its gateways in Europe, North America and the Middle East to its teleports, and gives customers the option to connect via satellite and benefit from secure private network services anywhere in the world.
