Navigating any set of guidelines or regulations can be extremely complicated. This holds especially true for companies that deal with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation whose requirements, processes and procedures can be extremely difficult to navigate. Plus, if a business is out of compliance with NERC standards, it can face severe penalties and consequences from the state.
Fortunately, for companies struggling to stay in line with the often complex guidelines and requirements of NERC compliance, there is some help. In February, Corporate Risk Solutions, Inc released a NERC (News - Alert) CIP Compliance Guide to help businesses navigate around the standards.
The Guide goes through each requirement and sub requirement to provide understanding and help on how best to comply. It also gives best practice recommendations and tips on how to avoid problems in the future.
So far, the company has provided guides to over 100 utilities companies in all eight NERC regions. Clients who have used the guide have found it to be helpful and easy to use, saving time and effort to try to track down the right answer.
One company that prides itself in being a leader in NERC CIP compliance is AlertEnterprise. The company specializes in cyber security across IT applications for business and government customers. In fact, AlertEnterprise has recently been raking in the awards as recognition for its good work.
Just recently, the company took home a Govie award at the Government Security Conference and Expo in Washington, DC. The company was honored in the Homeland Security category for its Critical Infrastructure Protection.
In addition, AlertEnterprise won several awards at the RSA (News - Alert) Conference 2012 in the cyber security category. The three awards focused on its Security Convergence Solutions for various purposes such as threat prevention.
