By Deepika Mala, TMCnet Contributor

A provider of NetFlow-based network traffic reporting, Plixer International (News - Alert) will soon be hosting FlowFest 2012: Advanced NetFlow Training for IT Professionals.

"FlowFest is designed to take network troubleshooting to a whole new level by providing attendees with real-life NetFlow-based solutions to solve present-day bandwidth deterioration," said Scrutinizer NetFlow Traffic Analyzer Product Manager, Michael Patterson (News - Alert), in a press release.

Officials said that the event, to be held at Plixer's global headquarters in Sanford, Maine on February 22 and 23, will provide attendees with practical tips and hands-on training on NetFlow technology best practices.

Thomas Pore, technical support manager and field engineer for Plixer International, will lead the NetFlow training. Pore will deliver accelerated product training and speak about advanced custom network monitoring solutions for the Plixer suite and WhatsUp Gold.

Presentations during the event will include: techniques to properly use Cisco (News - Alert) Medianet to troubleshoot VoIP issues such as jitter, latency and packet loss; using forensic techniques to identify network problems and methods to pinpoint offending traffic sources; successful troubleshooting with NetFlow and IPFIX; and exporting different data types via NetFlow.

Patterson further added, "Upon leaving FlowFest, our guests return to their organizations with a comprehensive understanding of how to best leverage NetFlow to improve network traffic flow on almost any device including: Cisco, Enterasys, SonicWall, Adtran, Xirrus and many others."

Scrutinizer is a completely web-based tool, with the ability to easily enable network administrators to monitor and control bandwidth consumption via NetFlow, Netstream, sFlow, jFlow and IPFIX analytics and reporting.

In other company news, TMCnet recently reported that at Cisco Live 2012 which recently took place in London, Plixer International showcased its Scrutinizer NetFlow Analyzer 9.0.

Scrutinizer 9.0 boasts multiple capabilities such as: collecting over 100K flows per second (over 60M flows/minute); powering innovative Cisco Medianet reports that include in-depth network traffic visibility including Smart Logging and Telemetry (SLT), Cisco TrustSec (CTS), Performance Routing (PfR) and Performance monitoring reports (Medianet); vital interfaces with the most Jitter or latency; advanced Citrix NetScaler reports detailing URLs, applications and latency; SonicWALL (News - Alert) VPN reports pinpointing VPN names as well as remote and local addresses; and CrossCheck to provide deeper integration with third-party tools including What’s Up Gold, Orion, SNMPc, Uptime Devices, Nimsoft (News - Alert), etc.
