NetFlow Rakes in the Awards

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

Plixer International (News - Alert) powers NetFlow, a tool that can enable enterprises not only to gain full visibility into how much traffic is moving across their networks, but also exactly what that traffic comprises and what it is doing.

Solutions like the Scrutinizer from Plixer can easily and quickly capture Cisco (News - Alert) NetFlow, sFlow and other flow technologies, and use that important data to see how efficiently a network is running. Through leveraging flow packets, NetFlow analyzers can provide users with detailed information such as source IP addresses, destination IP addresses, source port numbers, destination port numbers, protocol types, types of services and the router input interfaces.

Last year, the company won multiple awards for its robust NetFlow solution including the 2011 INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year Award.

“Corporate networks, once reserved for business-related traffic only, are now being utilized for personal smartphone and tablet applications such as Facebook, YouTube and Netflix, that rob valuable bandwidth from business applications," Michael Patterson, Scrutinizer product manager, Plixer International commented.

"Scrutinizer is designed to peer deep into bandwidth traffic and enable the network administrator to easily see who is consuming bandwidth, what they are using it for and -- immediately restore precious bandwidth for work-related needs,” Patterson added. “We are humbled to have been selected as product of the year from among such notable competition."

In addition, in 2011, Scrutinizer NetFlow and sFlow Analyzer were named to Network Products Guide 6th Annual 2011 Hot Companies and Best Product Awards in the IT Software and Services category. This award is extremely prestigious as it honors achievements and recognitions within the ever-changing IT industry.

Scrutinizer NetFlow and sFlow Analyzer were also selected by the Golden Bridge Awards as the winner of the 3rd Annual 2011 Golden Bridge Awards in the NetFlow category of Information Technology (Software) Innovations.

Another honorable mention that Plixer has recently received is the ANPM for the Masses Award from Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) which highlighted the company’s NetFlow solutions within its industry analysis entitled, “EMA RadarTM for Application-Aware (News - Alert) Network Performance Management Q3 2010.” Both the Scrutinzer NetFlow and sFlow Analyzer were reported to have “strong value” when compared other ANPM solutions.

If a company like Plixer International is constantly winning so many awards, you have to think to yourself that they must be doing something right. But, in fact, the company is doing many things right and recently it completely revamped NetFlow Scrutinizer 9.0, a Web-based tool boasting multiple capabilities including collecting over 100K flows per second (over 60M flows/minute) powering innovative Cisco Medianet reports that include in-depth network traffic visibility including: Smart Logging and Telemetry (SLT), Cisco TrustSec (CTS (News - Alert)), Performance Routing (PfR) and Performance monitoring reports (Medianet); vital interfaces with the most Jitter or latency; advanced Citrix NetScaler reports detailing URLs, applications and latency; SonicWALL VPN reports pinpointing VPN names as well as remote and local addresses; and CrossCheck to provide deeper integration with third-party tools including What’s Up Gold, Orion, SNMPc, Uptime Devices, Nimsoft, etc.
