Condusiv Technologies, a provider of software optimization technologies, has just launched a new application performance and virtual storage software for NAS and SAN network storage applications.
The new software, V-locity 4, supports virtualized environments including all VMware ESX/ESXi and Microsoft (News
- Alert) Hyper-V virtual platforms, allowing IT organizations to improve performance of virtualized environments without the cost of new or additional storage hardware.
V-locity 4.0 features the Benefit Analyzer functionality which makes it easier for clients to generate reports and provides them with great documentation for demonstrating the benefit of V-locity 4.0 to managerial staff. And by featuring IntelliMemory and IntelliWrite technology, the software has the ability to eliminate unnecessary I/O and bottlenecks at the source and boost Virtual Machine (VM) performance enabling more VMs to perform better on a single, physical server.
IntelliMemory RAM (News - Alert) caching technology reduces I/O bottlenecks by intelligently caching active data, thus eliminating unnecessary I/O traffic and improving performance by up to 50 percent. This feature is something extremely similar to what a NetFlow-based offering provides.
V-Aware (News
- Alert) technology detects external resource usage from other virtual machines on the virtual platform and eliminates any resource contention that might slow performance, while CogniSAN technology detects external resource usage within a shared storage system such as a SAN without intruding upon any SAN-layer operations. In addition, InvisiTasking technology allows all the V-locity 4 “background” operations within the VM to run with zero resource impact on current production.
With these features, the solution improves I/O response time while also increasing bandwidth to the VM without adding additional hardware. Since it solves the I/O bottlenecks at the source proactively and transparently, customers can just install V-locity 4 and continue to experience performance improvements without any further efforts.
“Applications, mobile devices and Big Data are creating tremendous amounts of data. This explosion of data has also created an I/O explosion,” said Jerry Baldwin, CEO of Condusiv Technologies, in a statement.
“While virtualization provides our customers with the agility and scalability required to meet increasing data challenges and helps with cost savings, it is aggravating the I/O bottleneck problem,” Baldwin added. “Unless organizations address these I/O challenges, they won’t be able to realize the full value of their virtualization investment.”
