The Best in Class Award, given by the Interactive Media Council recognizes the highest standards of excellence in website design and development and honors individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievement. Initially, the University of Baltimore’s magazine website was submitted for consideration in the college website category, however the IMA judges were so impressed by the site, they decided to honor it with an additional award in the magazine category.
The University of Baltimore Magazine website was designed in an effort to connect more than 50,000 alumni and friends of the University of Baltimore. Created with ease of use in mind, the University of Baltimore Magazine website diverges from traditional site architecture by allowing users to view an entire issue’s worth of articles at once on the home page through a cutting-edge masonry structure. In addition, the design permits users to filter various sections of the magazine for a more focused experience. Multimedia WebExtras and archives add to the depth of the site, which incorporates responsive design to offer cross-platform functionality, ensuring the site functions equally well on a desktop computer, smartphone or tablet.
