BRIEF: Roberts' return to GMA big news in social media
Feb 20, 2013 (The Sun Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Since early morning, messages have flooded Twitter and Facebook to wish Robin Roberts well on her return to morning television and "Good Morning America."
As news reader Josh Elliott tweeted, "After 174 long days, she's back," Roberts returned to the anchor desk following a bone marrow transplant and recovery period.
"I keep pinching myself and I realize that this is real. This is really happening," Roberts, 52, said, according to the GMA website. "Faith, family and friends have brought me to this moment and I am so full of gratitude."
By the time "Good Morning America" began its broadcast at 6 a.m. Central Time, #welcomebackrobin and #gma topics were trending on Twitter, along with Roberts' Twitter handled@RobinRoberts. A photo of the GMA team with Robin at the anchor desk provided by ABC had already been shared more than 1,500 times on Facebook and also was being retweeted on Twitter.
A story by Sun Herald staffer Melissa M. Scallan that appeared on Tuesday's front page also was being shared on Facebook this morning.
