Ferrum man arrested on charge he sexually abused a child [The Roanoke Times, Va.]
(Roanoke Times (Roanoke, VA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 20--Franklin County deputies arrested a Ferrum man earlier this month on a charge he sexually abused an 8-year-old girl, according to a search warrant filed Wednesday.
Robin Edward Slater, 51, faces one charge he took indecent liberties with a child. The charge came just one day after a Franklin County investigator interviewed the young girl at the Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center in Rocky Mount.
The girl told the investigator the incident happened at Slater's house in the 70 block of Kasey Farm Lane shortly after Christmas.
On Feb. 7, the investigator went to Slater's house and swabbed the floor around his bed for semen samples, the warrant states.
A separate search warrant, filed Feb. 6, showed Slater was the primary figure in a separate, child pornography investigation.
According to that warrant, Slater's girlfriend told an investigator she found child pornography on his computer when she'd logged into it using his password on Jan. 18. She said she accessed it again Feb. 3 "and found more images of juveniles engaged in sexual activity," the warrant states.
In a search of his house, authorities seized a flip phone, VHS tapes, compact discs, digital storage devices, computers and memory cards, the warrant states.
No child pornography charges have been filed against Slater. He is currently being held at Western Virginia Regional Jail.
