Makarem & Associates Files Suit against Union Pacific Railroad
LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)--
Makarem and Associates sues Union Pacific Railroad Company for wrongful
death stemming from the fatality of two young women who died in a train
collision.
Renee Ammari, age 21, and Tanya Sayegh, age 18, suffered fatal injuries
after a Union Pacific Railroad Company train collided with their
disabled car near the Mission Inn Avenue grade crossing in Riverside,
California on October 31, 2007.
The Plaintiffs are the parents and representatives of the Estates of
Renee Ammari and Tanya Sayegh. Plaintiffs are represented by Ronald W.
Makarem of the law firm Makarem & Associates and Imad Y. Elias of the
Law Offices of Mann & Elias.
The Plaintiffs allege that Union Pacific Railroad Company and its
employee crew were negligent in operating the train, failing to observe
the Plaintiffs' disabled car, and failing to apply its emergencybrakes
in time to avoid the collision. "Had the crew of the Union Pacific
Railroad Company been alert and attentive, as per the rules governing
railroad operations, they then would have seen the flashing,
warning-hazard lights of the Plaintiffs' vehicle and timely applied the
emergency brakes. Their negligent actions resulted in the deaths of two
young women," says one of the Plaintiffs' attorneys, Ron Makarem.
Union Pacific Railroad denies any negligence, alleging that the train
was being operated properly, that there was no negligence on the part of
Union Pacific Railroad or its crew.
The case of The Estate of Renee Ammari and The Estate of Tanya Sayegh
v. Union Pacific Railroad Company, in County of Riverside, Case No.
RIC 512012 is scheduled to begin trial on February 28, 2013.
