BARCELONA, SPAIN, Feb 25, 2013 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
ST-Ericsson, a world leader in wireless platforms
and
semiconductors, and Ericsson have successfully demonstrated the
world's first
dual mode high definition VoLTE connection between LTE
FDD and LTE TDD (TD- LTE)
with China Mobile today at the Mobile World
Congress in Barcelona.
The demonstration was conducted at China Mobile's booth using
ST-Ericsson's commercial Thor LTE multimode modem, and connected to
Ericsson's commercially
verified LTE FDD/TDD converged network and
mature IMS platform.
Mats H Olsson, President of Ericsson North East Asia said, "Ericsson
is honored
to support China Mobile in setting up yet another milestone
in the development
of TD-LTE. The technology readiness and commercial
availability of the system,
platform and terminals of TD-LTE that we
demonstrated here is a strong testimonial of the maturity of a
converged end-to-end TD-LTE eco-system. Ericsson is determined to
work continuously with China Mobile and operators around the world to
drive the globalization and commercialization of TD- LTE."
Mats Norin, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of

Mobile and Ericsson in successfully demonstrating this great
innovative milestone at Mobile World Congress 2013. ST-Ericsson's
Thor modem solutions and NovaThor ModAp solutions

platforms that are capable of supporting TD-LTE/LTE
FDD/WCDMA/TD-SCDMA/GSM. In addition, ST-Ericsson's modem and ModAp
platforms are able to provide complete voice solutions including
VoLTE, CSFB and SRVCC. We hope to
continue our cooperation with China
Mobile to promote the development of TD-
LTE."
VoLTE uses IP packet-based network for voice call, it transmits voice
into data
to carry out transmission, which enables a richer telephony
experience and high
definition audio in combination with low power
consumption.

voice services
in 45 countries. And there is a strong business case
