Silver Peak (News - Alert) Systems, the leader in data center class wide area network (WAN) optimization, has extended its flexible network acceleration options for deploying "WAN optimization anywhere" with the availability of Silver Peak VX virtual WAN optimization appliances on HP 5400zl and 8200zl switches.

Officials with Silver Peak Systems said that leveraging HP's recently announced virtualization support for the 5400zl and 8200zl switches, Silver Peak integration allows enterprises to easily and cost-effectively deploy WAN optimization in branch offices to ensure fast access to centralized applications, optimized backup of remote data, and the highest quality voice and video services to distributed employees.

Trimuschat said that virtualization is a key enabler for a myriad of network functions, including WAN optimization, and the company is excited to see HP embracing this same virtualization vision.

Silver Peak's VXOA powers the company's entire portfolio of physical (NX) and virtual (VX and VRX) products.

Company officials said that with Silver Peak VXOA, customers can deploy high-capacity, data center class WAN optimization on a wide variety of industry standard hardware platforms and on any hypervisor, from router blades and storage arrays, to servers and switches like the HP 5400zl and 8200zl.

Recently, Silver Peak Systems announced that Commtech Distribution, one of Ireland's leading IT distributors, will distribute the entire portfolio of Silver Peak data center class wide area network (WAN) optimization appliances to resellers across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
