Mellanox (News - Alert) Technologies, a supplier of high-performance, end-to-end connectivity solutions for data center servers and storage systems, announced the release of the latest messaging acceleration software offering the “lowest latency for high-frequency trading.”

The new Messaging Accelerator, VMA 6.0 delivers record-breaking, ultra-low UDP (News - Alert) latency under 1.4 microseconds and TCP socket latency under 1.7 microseconds. This, according to company officials, is twice more than competitive offerings.

The solution also features enhanced TCP and UDP acceleration support over ConnectX-3 VPI adapter cards, making it the ideal solution for a wide range of applications serving high frequency trading, databases, in-memory caching and more. Offering the fastest order execution time, VMA 6.0 enables enterprise financial firms such as exchanges to increase their competitive positioning.

 “VMA 6.0 enables the highest performance of any socket-based application over our leading low-latency interconnect solutions,” said David Barzilai, vice president of marketing at Mellanox Technologies, in a statement.

 “VMA provides data center managers with the technology leadership for low-latency data distribution or high packet rates based applications, resulting in faster executions, lower response time and higher return on investment,” Barzilai added.

VMA 6.0 improves application-to-application performance and latency thanks to the ConnectX-3 support. VMA 6.0 leverages ConnectX-3’s new hardware capabilities such as hardware-based flow steering, which enables discrete acceleration of flows in a scalable and balanced manner.

VMA 6.0 and ConnectX-3 adapters also support PCIe 3.0, delivering future proofing and consistent low-latency for many-core compute platforms. Featuring a dynamically-linked user-space Linux library, the solution can accelerate messaging and streaming traffic.

Mellanox VMA 6.0 is currently available through all Mellanox channel partners and distributors, the company said in a press release.

Recently Mellanox Technologies announced that the company has joined the Open Compute Project under the Open Compute Foundation.

Mellanox also announced the immediate availability of 10GbE mezzanine cards based on Mellanox's energy efficient, high performance ConnectX-3 EN silicon that are compliant with the Open Compute Project specification.
