IT performance company Riverbed Technology has announced its plan to partner with Teradici, the developer of PC-over-IP(R) (PCoIP) protocol that enables a true PC experience for desktop virtualization.
“A partnership between the two companies will be a perfect match to further enhance a global organization’s ability to develop a high-performance IT infrastructure,” said Venugopal Pai, vice president of global alliances at Riverbed (News - Alert).
The intended partnership is expected to enable customers better address IT infrastructure performance, including virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) for VMware View environments.
Riverbed will become the first company to join the newly launched Teradici Network Solutions (News - Alert) Partner Program. Moreover, Teradici has become an Elite level member of the Riverbed Technology Alliances (RTA) Partner Program.
The RTA program consists of a select group of technology companies that share a common vision of accelerating data and application performance, and deliver significant savings as customers increasingly use wide area networks (WANs) to enable globally distributed workforces.
As partners, the two companies are expected to work closely to provide an “unparalleled” performance experience for desktop users.
Thanks to the design of VMware View with PCoIP, customers can deliver an “uncompromised” remote desktop experience over existing standard local area networks (LANs) and WANs.
Company officials said that where the WAN has too little bandwidth or too much latency to smoothly deliver virtual services, the Riverbed WAN optimization solutions can provide significant performance improvements for those VMware View users.
“Through our partnerships with Teradici and Riverbed, we help customers streamline desktop and application management while reducing desktop TCO, improving security and enhancing the experience, flexibility and productivity for end users located all around the world," said Vittorio Viarengo, vice president for End-User Computing at VMware.
Earlier this year in June, Microsoft (News - Alert) named Riverbed as an application acceleration hardware partner in the worldwide network of Microsoft Technology Centers (MTCs).
