SevOne, a provider of network performance management solutions, announced that a European armed forces organization has selected the company to consolidate the IT infrastructure performance monitoring capabilities.
"This win is significant to SevOne as we continue to develop our presence in EMEA," said Bill Conners, senior vice president of worldwide sales at SevOne, in a statement. "When it became clear that two of our key competitors' products were no longer performing to the required level, the fact we were able to quickly demonstrate our performance capabilities made SevOne a logical choice.”
According to Conners, SevOne network performance management solutions represent the most powerful integration of SNMP and NetFlow reporting of any solution in the market.
The armed forces organization selected SevOne following an extensive evaluation of the performance management market. SevOne was identified “as the only vendor capable of offering a single comprehensive view of the performance and capacity of its IT infrastructure in the SevOne solution, and with the highest levels of performance, scalability, and interoperability,” according to company officials.
Earlier the organization was using two separate solutions to deliver simple network management protocol (SNMP) and NetFlow-based monitoring systems. Later they realized that the current approach no longer suits their requirements.
The organization was looking for a performance monitoring solution that could be fully integrated with the existing infrastructure. It should also ensure interoperability with existing monitoring systems, as well as allow users to create the alerts and reports that they need to maintain current operations and plan for future capacity needs proactively.
“The SevOne solution was able to consolidate both systems into one, and has helped to drive down our total cost of ownership, and significantly reduce our expenditure on hardware, licensing, and reporting," a senior engineer of the organization was quoted saying.
"We were able to fully integrate SevOne's best of breed platform with our existing network infrastructure to achieve outstanding results, so much so that the decision was taken to broaden the remit of the initial proof of concept by increasing the number of routers and flows that we were collecting data from,” the engineer said.
The SevOne solution was capable of coping with increased polling and data collection. Following this success, the organization is now exploring the consolidation of other performance and capacity tools on to the SevOne platform and looking to see to address previous blind spots.
SevOne reported it has increased its revenue by almost 100 percent from H1 2010. In the first half of 2011, the company announced the addition of 10 major customers to its global portfolio including two wireless carriers in Europe, a top North American cable company, and a multi-billion dollar financial services company.
In other industry news, Fujitsu (News - Alert) Services, one of the leading IT services companies in Europe, recently enlisted the help of network diagramming provider OPNET Technologies to aid in reducing the manual workload associated with designing the network reconfiguration for problem scenarios and validating their designs for performance and availability in a broad range of scenarios. Without an automation solution, Fujitsu officials frequently had to spend time redesigning and reconfiguring networks, a process that was oftentimes tedious and prone to producing errors.
