Network Diagramming Provider OPNET Reflects on Interop

Interop (News - Alert) 2011 in the Big Apple was certainly the place to be last week and OPNET Technologies’ booth was certainly a not-to-miss hotspot. From constant video presentations to live demos to the colorful neon shirts, the network diagramming provider’s booth was abuzz with trade show participants.

After the show – which brought together the industry’s top leaders to discuss and learn about cloud computing, data centers, virtualization and mobility – OPNET’s Vice President of Marketing and Business Development Susan S. Cole sat down with TMCnet to reflect on the event.

“Interop attracts IT and networking professionals from all over who are anxious to learn about the latest advances in the industry, including application and network performance management,” Cole said of the event. “It’s a great opportunity for OPNET to connect with new prospects, see customers, and dialog with analysts and media.”

OPNET is a provider of solutions for application and network performance management. In particular, the company has emerged as a leader in the network diagramming space through its NetMapper solution.

One of the best parts about Interop for OPNET was being able to show off its technologies.

“It’s always very gratifying to see the reaction to OPNET’s latest solutions and capabilities,” Cole said. “We had a tremendous response to our exhibit, with non-stop presentations and demonstrations.”

“Historically conference-goers have come largely from the networking ranks within their respective organizations, but there was greater of diversity this year,” she added. “We engaged with a lot of folks whose areas included application management, cloud operations, security, mobile support, and more. Consequently we featured a variety of OPNET solutions, including AppMapper Xpert, for run-rime application dependency mapping, and NetMapper, which automatically produces network diagrams that embed rich configuration and asset information. AppResponse Xpert, OPNET’s solution for end-user experience and network monitoring, is always of great interest at Interop. We recently added passive database monitoring to the product’s broad scope of capabilities.”

For those that visited OPNET’s booth, the network diagramming provider hopes participants took away the fact that the company has “significant breadth of capability for application and network performance management.” OPNET also has extensive integration of data and workflows across its products.

“I hope they also walked away knowing that we are passionate about what we do, and that OPNET’s dedication to excellence in customer service is second to none,” Cole said.

And for those that were unable to attend Interop, OPNET is still eager to engage with new customers and spread the word about its offerings.
