Ipswitch’s (News - Alert) Network Management Division, developer of the WhatsUp Gold suite of innovative IT management solutions, has announced a new WhatsUp Gold training program.

The program is designed to help customers leverage the full power and functionality of their Ipswitch network management solution. Ipswitch is the only authorized provider of WhatsUp Gold training. Ipswitch Network Management Division offers three courses, which are designed by network engineers for network engineers. The three-hour online course provides participants an overview of WhatsUp Gold features and functionality. In addition, it also develops configuration and management skills.

The two-day and three-day courses build on the three-hour online program and cover building optimized configurations and creating effective monitoring, management and alerting strategies.

Company officials said that the three-day course also uses a practical “hands-on” element to develop best practices. Moreover, the longer courses can be delivered in an open classroom, at a customer's facility, or online, depending on requirements and time schedules.

“While it is something we take pride in, the simplicity of setting up and configuring WhatsUp Gold can also mean that users are not aware of its full functionality,” said Ennio Carboni, president of Network Management Division at Ipswitch.

The company has designed the new training programs to help customers maximize their investment with it and harness the power of WhatsUp Gold to develop management systems that will not only improve the configuration and management of the network, but also enhance the visibility and knowledge of their environment, Carboni said.

“As a result, network administrators will be able to identify and solve problems more quickly, which improves the service they offer to their organizations,” Carboni said.

The three courses are available now from Ipswitch Network Management Division.

In other industry news, recently Jean-Michel Rouylou, vice president of Global Connectivity Services for Schlumberger Network & Infrastructure Solutions, discussed why his company chose OPNET Technologies’ (News - Alert) SP Guru for Intelligent Network Management.

Schlumberger, a global technology services company with over 80,000 people in almost 100 countries, provides secure global IP infrastructure, information security, wireless and remote network connectivity and complete network managed services through their DeXa Suite of Services. When the ompany needed something to support its DeXa.Net global connectivity offering, it enlisted the help of OPNET’s network diagramming offering.

“The Schlumberger (News - Alert) DeXa.Net SPN provides faster and more reliable connectivity for enterprises located anywhere in the world,” he said in a recent case study, a strong consideration when you’re as far-flung as Schlumberger, what with employees in a hundred countries. “State-of-the-art technology implementation, including Multiprotocol Label Switching, provides a cost-effective service and enables traffic engineering, delivering bandwidth-on-demand to accommodate the changing needs of an organization.”
