NetScout (News - Alert) Systems, an enabler of comprehensive end-to-end network and application assurance, announced it has acquired ONPATH Technologies (News - Alert), a company that delivers flexible, future-proof solutions to secure data center and test infrastructure.

NetScout’s packet-flow technology has enabled IT staff to predict, preempt and resolve network and service delivery problems while facilitating the optimization and capacity planning of the network infrastructure. The company has deployed NetScout nGenius and Sniffer solutions at more than 20,000 customers across the globe.

Following this acquisition, NetScout will maintain ONPATH’s test automation business as a new business unit and will integrate the ONPATH network monitoring switch and system management products into its nGenius Packet Flow Switch family.

The acquisition will also integrate about 45 existing ONPATH employees into NetScout’s ongoing operations while all existing ONPATH customers will continue to receive support from NetScout.

For the remainder of the fiscal year 2013, the acquisition is expected to be earnings per share neutral on a non-GAAP basis and to be slightly dilutive on a GAAP basis. It is expected to be accretive on a non-GAAP and GAAP basis for the fiscal year 2014 and beyond, the company said.

Recently Onpath Technologies announced partnership with Gale Technologies (News - Alert), a supplier of infrastructure automation software solutions that power Infrastructure as a Service for labs, enterprises, and service providers, to complete interoperability testing of Onpath's UCS platform and HorizON 2.4 software with Gale Technologies' GaleForce 6.1 Software release.

Earlier this year Onpath Universal Connectivity System (UCS) 2900 platform received the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) certification from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).

The 2900 platform has been JITC certified to be deployed in Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) to enable linkage among legacy serial data, video, and voice services over Ethernet, Synchronous Optical Networking (SONET), Fiber Channel, and Wide Area Networks.
