Elecsys Corp. has released zONeGUARD, the most recent addition to the company’s supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) telemetry product line.
According to industry reports, cyber security requirements are expanding for the industrial data systems used within the nation's critical infrastructure. And for industrial communication networks, Elecsys’ newest offering provides a security solution, ensuring both data encryption and authentication.
Scott Tampke, chief sales officer at Elecsys, noted that addressing data security vulnerabilities within the industrial monitoring and control systems used for critical energy infrastructure is a growing concern.
“zONeGUARD is an ideal solution to provide our customers with enhanced data and communications security while allowing the continued use of existing monitoring and control equipment with established data acquisition systems,” Tampke said.
The patent pending zONeGUARD system comprises of a single host device combined with multiple remote devices. With zONeGUARD remote devices, users can extend “cutting-edge” cyber security capabilities to their current field equipment. This offering eliminates the need to replace extensive populations of existing equipment, said company officials.
Company officials said that the host device of zONeGUARD is simple to interface with both current and legacy data acquisition systems through a wide area or local area network and may be used with existing virtual private networks (VPNs).
Moreover, thanks to zONeGUARD’s intrusion detection system (IDS), operators now have a concise method of detecting and reporting attempted system intrusions, said company officials.
