Verimatrix (News - Alert), the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, has unveiled its ViewRight Web client family, a robust package of portable security applications that provide authentication services for the growing range of devices supporting the HTTP Live Streaming video standard.

Officials with Verimatrix said that as an integral component of the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for Internet TV solution, ViewRight Web technology is designed for operators that want to deploy secure over-the-top (OTT) video content services using this advanced adaptive rate streaming protocol.

Using a security single client, this new breed of video service can offer a seamless mix of live, catch-up and on-demand content.

Company officials said that ViewRight Web enabled clients are currently available in a number of variants, with more in development, including support for PCs, iPhone (News - Alert) OS 3.0+ (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch), Android OS and set-top boxes (STBs).

According to company officials, ViewRight Web applications automatically adjust to use a device appropriate video format and dynamically switch between bit-rates to maintain a smooth consumer video experience.

The portable security code has been interoperability tested with a range of leading encoder and web server suppliers, such as Envivio, Harmonic, Allegro, Edgeware, Anevia (News - Alert), Vidiator and others.

Company officials said that Verimatrix is also offering its ViewRight LIVE application as a fast track solution to enable global digital TV operators with a secure video player option for content services to the iPhone and iPad device families.

ViewRight LIVE also offers an app framework that operators can customize and brand to match the presentation look and feel of broadcast channels and video-on-demand (VOD) on STB and other device types.

"Any operator planning for next-generation network upgrades is contemplating how to best incorporate free or paid OTT video delivery into their service profile,” said Petr Peterka, chief technology officer, Verimatrix.

Peterka said that VCAS for Internet TV helps make OTT a reality by managing device authentication and key management through a centralized security head-end and a proven partner ecosystem.
