eTelemetry (News - Alert), which specializes in extracting real-time business information from network activity, announced it can help emergency callers in big facilities reach first responders by offering call-location technology through their commercial phone systems.
Emergency callers in big facilities such as hotel guests, students and workers on campuses and employees, often find it difficult to get 911 emergency help because most switchboard PBX systems in these facilities lack 911 caller-location technologies.
eTelemetry addresses this challenge by offering two solutions. The Locate911 (News - Alert) from eTelemetry alerts the switchboard to the caller location while LENS, another technology, instantly sends alert messages to phones and computers in emergency situations.
Locate911 technology when added to a commercial switchboard PBX (News - Alert) system automatically detects 911 calls in progress and alerts on-site personnel by offering all details including caller's name, room number and building information so fire, police can respond effectively.
Meanwhile, LENS serves to alert others at the site or off-site via telephones and computers that an emergency is in progress enabling emergency responders to take pre-planned or directed actions, the company said.
Emergency callers are often not in a position to provide the location information to first responders. Traditional phones or VoIP phones do not have the location identification feature built in them. Unless they are manually configured, these phones cannot provide location information when needed.
eTelemetry is addressing this need of the market. The company has attracted several investors who have helped the company invent Locate911, LENS and to continue product enhancements, according to company officials.
"We have invested millions of dollars and continue to invest and improve our Locate 911 caller location solution and LENS alert technology for traditional and VoIP PBX phone systems," said Andrew Lombard, CEO, eTelemetry, in a statement. “We are not waiting for regulations to force this. We want to help ensure 911 responders across the U.S. and globally have what they need to save lives.”
"It seems many who procure commercial phone systems aren't aware of the problem, and that there's a lifesaving solution with our technology," Lombard added. “We are going to do our part to raise awareness of this life and death gap in commercial phone systems.”
Ronald McDonald House in Minneapolis, MN, recently added Locate911 to ensure emergency caller location in life and death emergency calls, the company said. The solution is found to be the ideal solution to connect emergency callers in huge complexes to first responders.
In other PBX news, recently SatelCall, a small carrier that delivers VoIP and TDM solutions to mostly call shops and Internet cafes, sat down with TMCnet to discuss why the company tapped Sonetel for its PBX service.
“The ease of configuration of the Sonetel system is much more attractive to the small business, since it is an IP PBX system, for unlimited users that can communicate wherever your associates and business contacts are,” Guillermo Aguilar, owner of SatelCall, told TMCnet. “For a small fee, you can also get from Sonetel local numbers in many countries around the world and/or regions within Spain. You can have a worldwide service operating, without the need to purchase expensive hardware locally.”
Sonetel is a Swedish-based company that globally offers a free, scalable PBX service. Touted as “the easiest, cheapest and fastest way” to get a telephony solution for your company, Sonetel is in the midst of commemorating its one-year anniversary, having unveiled the first version of its phone system in late 2010. More than a year later, Sonetel has established itself as the only company worldwide offering a free, scalable PBX service, according to company officials.
