Armed With New Team, ShoreTel Set to Make its Presence Felt in the US Healthcare Industry

The healthcare system in the USA is poised for a great transformation, and technology is going to play the key role in this historic transformation process. Collaboration is going to take center stage to ensure the right care is delivered by the right person at the right time. With the Affordable Care Act promising to make healthcare more efficient and less expensive, new opportunities are coming up paving the way for new players to jump on the healthcare bandwagon. ShoreTel (News - Alert), the well known provider of phone systems and unified communications solutions, is one of the vendors keen on capitalizing on the changes that Obamacare promises to bring. In tandem with this business vision, the company recently launched a health care industry-focused sales program.


Under this program, the company will focus its sales efforts at delivering dedicated solutions to hospitals, physician practices and extended care providers. The company is going to develop a partner/reseller community network to bring its products and solutions to a very vast healthcare market comprising close to 1,000 care providers.

The company has formed a team to steer the program. The team will be responsible for widening its partner network and broadening its market reach. In addition, the team will also take part in a variety of industry activities, seemingly to gain greater visibility. The company already is a member of a host of leading U.S. healthcare organizations, including American Medical Group Association, Medical Group Management Association, American Health Care Association, National Center for Assisted Living, and National Association of Home Care and Hospice.

“Electronic health-record adoption, utilization measurement, and patient engagement are certainly a few of the top trends within the industry today,” said Lance Mehaffey, manager at ShoreTel. “But the more significant driver is clinical transformation. By merging collaboration technologies, care pathways, and human interactions, all provider types can transform how care is delivered and continuously improved. The capabilities of ShoreTel are tightly aligned with these transformative industry initiatives and objectives.”

While explaining how it could contribute to the great healthcare transformation, ShoreTel reps said that its solutions can be utilized by hospitals, physician practices and extended care providers to improve mobility, collaboration and care coordination.

For example, ShoreTel Mobility, a solution designed for secure and cost-effective integration of mobile devices with enterprise communication infrastructure, can be used to keep dispersed hospital teams agile and connected to each other with easy to access and use mobility clients.

Then, ShoreTel voice and Web conferencing solutions can be utilized for supporting staff training and meeting needs.

Similarly ShoreTel Contact Center solutions can aid in conducting satisfaction surveys, automating outbound appointment reminder calls, and coordinating patient services more efficiently, while ShoreTel IP Telephony systems can be used for managing all voice communications across the practices from a single location.

The reps pointed out that ShoreTel's open architecture also allows for cost-effective integration of value-adding applications such as interactive voice response (IVR), emergency notification, Web dialer and call recorder.

One renowned hospital in Texas has reportedly benefited from using ShoreTel’s Unified communications systems. Doctors Hospital at Renaissance has a large ShoreTel installation that has improved productivity and capacity and lowered costs.

“With pressure to provide top-notch patient care while controlling costs, the hospital needed to boost the availability, mobility, and capabilities of its communications infrastructure,” the director of technology services and security at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance said. “We needed a vendor who would do more than rip and replace our phones and who truly understood how critical the right voice over IP network is to the way we work.”
