Syniverse (News - Alert) has been contracted to deliver its IPX Network and Diameter Signaling Service to SmarTone, a mobile network operator in Hong Kong.
The mobile network operator is already participating in Syniverse’s comprehensive LTE (News - Alert) roaming trials and this agreement supports this initiative.
Syniverse’s LTE roaming trials enable SmarTone to accomplish two tasks: to test end-to-end LTE roaming functionality and launch commercial service with partners across the world.
“The Syniverse LTE solutions enable SmarTone to test, resolve and guarantee the quality of its LTE roaming processes. In addition, SmarTone’s integration of our IPX network is a critical step as it offers LTE interoperability to its end users,” said Jeff Gordon (News - Alert), president and CEO, Syniverse.
Both Syniverse and SmarTone already share a business relationship and for the past 16 years Syniverse has ensured that the operator’s end users enjoy the reach and seamless access to services.
SmarTone is using a range of value-added services, roaming and signaling solutions from Syniverse, which is known for its IPX Network and Diameter Signaling Service.
“With Syniverse’s IPX and LTE roaming solutions, we are able to address the challenges of LTE interoperability and interworking now to ensure the best quality of experience for end users once LTE roaming is launched commercially,” added said Stephen Chau, CTO, SmarTone.
Syniverse makes mobile work for more than 900 mobile operators, cable and Internet providers, and enterprises in over 160 countries. The company was in news earlier this year for announcing plans to provide NTT (News - Alert) DOCOMO, Inc. with proven and comprehensive Wi-Fi data and financial clearing solutions.
