For the software industry, the shift to the cloud is already in full swing, which means that there is no shortage of software executives and product line managers who have a lot of recent lessons learned and those who have a lot of questions to ask. Recognizing this opportunity, the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) is hosting an event to bring all of these curious and recently experienced executives together in one place to discuss, debate and explore a number of topics related to the cloud.
All About the Cloud, an annual conference for ISVs, will be held May 8-10 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. This is the seventh year the SIIA has put on the event, and this year’s conference boasts more than 250 different software executives, three full days of presentations and breakout sessions, and the CODiE Awards ceremony.
SafeNet (News - Alert), a data protection, SaaS licensing and software monetization expert, will have a strong presence at the conference, anchored by Shlomo Weiss, the company’s vice president of business development. In addition to playing a key role in the launch of SafeNet’s first cloud service offering, Sentinel Cloud, Weiss is also responsible for creating third party alliances and developing new initiatives.
On the second day of the conference, Wednesday, May 9, Weiss will give a presentation entitled “Cloud Monetization: A Step-by-Step Guide to Optimizing Your SaaS Business Model.” The presentation will discuss strategies that SaaS (News - Alert) companies use to optimize customer offerings. Attendees will learn to understand how subscribers use their services, maximize revenue from existing customers, modify offerings to target new customers, and leverage usage information to optimize business models. In addition, Weiss will review a step-by-step process for effectively monetizing software in the cloud.
Weiss will also be available throughout the event to demonstrate how SafeNet can enable proper software licensing and management through the use of the Sentinel Cloud. The solution allows independent software vendors to easily define their service catalogs for maximum market penetration, provision their contracts to improve end-user experiences, control service usage to ensure compliance, measure usage to support billing and adapt offerings on-the-fly. This year, Sentinel Cloud was chosen by the SIIA as the Best Digital Rights Management Solution for the 2012 CODiE Awards. The CODiEs are the industry’s only peer-reviewed awards program, and the SIIA uses rigorous criteria to evaluate and recognize solutions that allow for secure purchase, distribution and use of software. This marks the first time in 25 years that a cloud-based solution has been recognized as the best DRM solution. Sentinel Cloud was chosen out of 89 nominated products and services.
