Securing fax communications within the cloud is something which should be of high priority for businesses. If you don’t think so, think again, because fax remains a tried and true form of technology and means for business communications. In light of this, OpenText, a provider of Enterprise Information Management (News - Alert) (EIM) solutions, has revealed its new and improved set of services that work to leverage the company’s recently acquired EasyLink cloud infrastructure to secure information exchange via the cloud.

By combining the company’s powerful OpenText RightFax, OpenText OCR, OpenText Alchemy and OpenText MBPM with the OpenText Cloud on a single platform, customers will be able to better send, receive, route and archive high volumes of documents securely, easily and cost-efficiently. By offering customers the option to outsource all or a portion of their document-related capture as well as process routing and telephony needs, customers will find their costs significantly reduced – not to mention see improved business processes and quicker decision making for improved customer service.

"Our new cloud offerings represent the first of many secure, cloud-based information exchange capabilities that OpenText will bring to market in the coming months," said Mark J. Barrenechea (News - Alert), president and CEO of OpenText, in a statement.

When it comes to the meat of this sandwich (or in other terms, what it actually works to improve), OpenText RightFax Connect, a hybrid fax solution that sends and receives faxes via the OpenText Cloud platform, boasts minimized fax telephony complexity by eliminating telephony lines, fax boards, gateways and complex PBX (News - Alert) integrations. This ultimately reduces telephony charges, not to mention RightFax Connect extends RightFax delivery by ensuring secure data transfer to and from the cloud.

"OpenText RightFax Connect and our portfolio of cloud offerings usher in our new all-in-one solution for secure information exchange," added Matthew Brine, vice president and general manager of the OpenText EasyLink & Fax and Document Distribution Group. "As a pioneer in hybrid fax services, our new offerings leverage the OpenText EasyLink platform and provide our customers with enhanced data security and sovereignty while simplifying fax-telephony integration. But we are far more than fax. Our integrated business management services allow organizations to securely exchange virtually any type of information, regardless of file type or format."

These new cloud services are currently available from OpenText and its partners.
