Cubic Telecom (News - Alert), a private, fully licensed mobile network operator specializing in borderless communications, has announced a partnership with Woolworths Mobile Global Roaming (News - Alert). To access the Internet from overseas, Australians have it tough when it comes to roaming charges, with some being forced to pay up to $20 AUD ($20.4 USD) per megabyte. Making calls from destinations like China can cost up to six dollars per minute.
In order to save Australian travelers as much as 90% on their phone bills, the teaming between Cubic Telecom and Woolworths Mobile Global Roaming SIM will work wonders. Using the service, Australians should be able to make calls, when visiting the UK to anywhere in the world for just 18c per minute. Incoming calls will be completely free of charge. All data requirements can be covered from seven dollars for a 250MB bundle.
For a total cost of just $29, the Global Roaming SIMs, apart from being sold on the Woolworths website, will also be sold at each of the 890 Woolworths stores nationwide and will come with $10 credit. Available in all sizes including the standard and micro SIM sizes and shortly after launch the new Nano SIM which fits into the iPhone (News - Alert) 5, it can be used in any unlocked phone.
For greater cost control for travelers, as well as the fact that it is a prepaid card, Cubic Telecom’s service provides valuable features which include low balance alerts and reduced roaming costs. When it comes to downloading data, Australia was in the top ten for most expensive countries according to a recent OECD report.
For those who have the urge to travel but must consider leaving their phones at home due to costs, this is likely to be good news. When it comes to Australia’s roaming charges, Cubic Telecom is well-versed. The company already has partners Down Under, including RoamingSIM.
