SIP phones provider Panasonic (News - Alert) certainly seems to be on a hot streak as of late, as the company is nabbing awards from various different organizations at a rapid fire pace. From taking home the Product of the Year Award in the INTERNET TELEPHONY Magazine for its KX-UT670 Smart Desk Phone (News - Alert) to most recently being named a 2012 Today's Facility Magazine (TFM) Readers' Choice Award winner in the office technology/equipment category, 2012 has been nothing short of successful for the SIP End points company.
“Panasonic is quite pleased that our communications and office equipment solutions are being recognized for their ability to solve our customers' key business and operating challenges,” Bill Savino, marketing manager for business communication solutions at Panasonic System Communications Company of North America, told TMCnet. “In 2012 we will continue to deliver optimized solutions for our business customers."
This year kicked off with a bang for Panasonic as the company unveiled its KX-UT670 Smart Desk Phone, an open-sourced based operating system desk phone that was designed to allow users to develop integrated solutions for business communications and operations. The KX -UT670 boasts a full operating, open source system as well as a Web browser, seven-inch color LCD Touch screen and HD wideband voice and high quality HD video. It is certified for Broadsoft, Asterisk (News - Alert) and Metaswitch; can be expandable to six SIP terminals; and has the ability to support Bluetooth.
That phone was honored with the Product of the Year Award in TMC’s (News - Alert) INTERNET TELEPHONY Magazine in the January/February issue. It’s an award that was not all too surprising for Panasonic, however, given the warm reception it had been receiving over its phone since the launch of the product.
“So far we have had a great response from hosted providers/open source PBX (News - Alert) dealers regarding the Panasonic SIP KX-UT670 Smart Desk Phone,” Savino told TMCnet a few weeks ago. “They have been impressed with the design, overall quality and ability to integrate business applications and tools directly into the phone utilizing the open-source based operating system.”
In addition to being commended for its latest SIP Phones, Panasonic was also recently named a 2012 Today’s Facility Magazine (TFM) Readers Choice Award winner in the office technology/equipment category. The Readers Choice Awards are voted on each year by TFM magazine readers and are chosen based on criteria including product or service reliability, aesthetics, value and customer service.
One area that Panasonic stood out in, according to the magazine, was in its HD Visual Communications (HDVC) System which makes it possible to instantaneously communicate and collaborate with colleagues and industry experts wherever they happen to be. With full HD 1080i video and 360 degree audio delivered over a standard broadband connection, the Panasonic HDVC System allows companies to save money by reducing travel and improving productivity, according to company officials.
Moreover, its SIP phones were touted for their ease of use and interoperability with the fast-growing market of Hosted Voice Service Providers and open source, SIP-based PBX platforms.
“The February 2012 issue of Today’s Facility Manager celebrates our 19th annual Readers’ Choice Awards,” said Susan Coene, co-president of Group C Media Inc., parent company of TFM. “The Readers’ Choice Awards program recognizes and celebrates first-class products, services, and solutions within the facility management community. To earn the recognition and respect of facility managers who spend much of their working lives purchasing products and services for their facilities is an impressive achievement, and we congratulate all our winners.”
