Rubbermaid Medical Solutions, which began the production of medication style carts in 2003, has taken another step forward by integrating the Vidyo solution into its recently introduced Telemedicine carts. Vidyo pioneered Personal Telepresence (News - Alert) that enables natural, HD multi-point videoconferences on tablets and smart phones, PCs and Macs, room systems, gateways that interoperate with H.323 and SIP end points, telepresence solutions and cloud-based broadcast solutions.

Thanks to the new partnership, Vidyo will now offer Rubbermaid's Telemedicine customers a portable high-quality and cost-effective video communications and collaboration tool, according to company officials.

Further, the integrated solution not only provides high quality video communications to medical practitioners and care providers but also works easily with other applications on the Rubbermaid Telemedicine cart.

This mobile point-of-care platform, which can be moved anywhere, requires only a high speed Internet connection to start a HD video conference. It also enhances real-time collaboration and interaction between providers and patients.

“The combination of compact and lightweight design, with a very strong ergonomic focus, makes our telemedicine cart ideal for point-of-care applications,” said David Pirkle, general manager at Rubbermaid Medical Solutions.

Rubbermaid officials noted that the Vidyo (News - Alert) integration allows video consultations to be accessed via iPads and other mobile devices. Further, more practitioners can be available for remote consultations. This would benefit patients, the physicians and the healthcare industry.

Future plans for more innovative and economical Vidyo-Rubbermaid Telemedicine integrated products that will expand the reach of high-quality, easy-to-access video communications are being developed.
