In an effort to simplify and automate IT management for managed service providers (MSPs), remote monitoring and management (RMM) software provider Level Platforms recently enhanced Managed Workspace, its remote monitoring and management software and services platform.
With the integration of Symantec (News - Alert) Backup Exec Service Module, its RMM software gains new capabilities and provides the MSPs with deeper view into their end-clients’ backup environment. The new technology integration will allow the MSPs to more fully monitor, manage and respond to issues from within the Level Platforms Managed Workplace dashboard.
The Symantec Backup Exec Service Module is now available to Level Platforms Partners through the Update Center, Level Platforms announced in a news statement.
Delivering key new features, the integrated Symantec Backup Exec Service Module is expected to offer ease-of-use and expand functionality for the MSPs using Managed Workspace.
With the integration of this Symantec technology, the MSPs are going to get multisite view, which will allow the MSPs to monitor backup status across all managed sites from within the centralized Managed Workplace dashboard.
The enhanced software will be able to support multiple backup servers. This means the MSPs will gain full visibility of different types of backups running on different backup servers right on the Managed Workplace dashboard.
Since the module supports both Backup Exec 2010 and 2012 products, the enhanced software will allow the MSPs to monitor and manage their end-clients regardless of the version deployed.
With the service module now integrated, the MSPs will be able to see alerts generated and errors reported by Backup Exec. It will make it easier for them to review the status of jobs executed, running or scheduled, launch back-up specific reports or start a diagnostics job and remotely access the Backup Exec server from within Managed Workplace.
Combined with auto-monitoring and persistent state management features in Managed Workplace, MSPs can quickly and easily utilize advanced automation features to improve service delivery and reduce operating costs.
“With our expanding Vendor Alliance Program we are partnering with leading vendors, including Symantec, to establish Managed Workplace as the single platform for MSPs to manage the full range of technologies impacting the IT experience for their end-customers. Our collaboratively designed Symantec Service Modules, including the updated Backup Exec and the soon-to-be-released Endpoint Protection Service Module, provide our Partners with a new level of insight, responsiveness and automation within their Managed Workplace workflow so they can better serve their end-clients,” CTO of Level Platforms Gordon Rielly explained in a statement.
Symantec Corp recently announced that The Cardiac and Vascular Institute (TCAVI) entrusted the protection of their sensitive information to Symantec, utilizing Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 2013 and Symantec Backup Exec.cloud.
