GENBAND and Avaya (News - Alert) recently announced their continued collaboration to develop unified communications roadmap for users of Avaya Server 2100 (CS2100) and SL-100, enabling customers of GENBAND and Avaya to benefit from multimedia applications powered by Avaya Aura and the GENBAND GENiUS platform.
Avaya Aura is the core communications platform supporting unified communications and contact center solutions for midsize to large enterprises. It extends Communication Manager and enables SIP-based session management with innovative capabilities. Leveraging a revolutionary SIP architecture and virtualization technology, Avaya Aura simplifies complex networks and reduces infrastructure costs. Employees at any location can be connected regardless of the infrastructure the endpoints reside on.
The GENBAND GENiUS platform is an IP switching and networking platform supporting multipurpose IP solutions. GENBAND offers the majority of its product line on this leading software-centric GENiUS platform, including cloud-based and multimedia applications, local and interconnect call control, and session border control.
By providing carrier class support for the CS-2100 and SL-100 customer base, Avaya and GENBAND will provide continuity of existing services with new technology and on-going software improvements. The agreement also helps large institutions that have been searching to drive continuity for their investments made in legacy Nortel (News - Alert) voice systems.
Moreover, together the companies will continue to deliver a SIP-based UC solution that spans all fixed and mobile business communications functions for carrier-class enterprises in the higher education, healthcare, finance and government verticals.
“By joining forces with Avaya, we are able to provide some of the world’s most vital institutions with continuity, helping ensure that their existing investments in communications infrastructure will be supported and enhanced through future innovation,” said Mark Pugerude (News - Alert), GENBAND’s president of global sales and marketing, in a statement.
Avaya offers a full range of media gateways designed to enhance the benefits of IP telephony for businesses of every size. They support multiple protocols, and offer a high degree of reliability, security, and performance at every price point.
According to Andy Asava (News - Alert), GENBAND’s senior vice-president for enterprise sales, integrating software from his company with the CS 2100 won’t be a big challenge. For example, he said, the CS-2100 software has a lot in common with his company’s C20 Converged Softswitch, so all that is needed is some application code from Avaya.
The GENBAND C20 delivers world-class IP capabilities, reduces power and real estate costs, and creates robust opportunities for new revenue and higher profit. The C20 has the industry's most complete set of IP communication features and technologies, and can be deployed to manage communications, perform calls, control IP phones and media gateways, deliver SIP-based multimedia services, host IP-PBXs and function as the centerpiece of an open, standards-based network.
“The extension of this relationship will offer customers a unique combination of investment protection and graceful migration to advanced UC services,” said Mark Monday, vice president, Product Management, Collaboration Platforms and Endpoints, Avaya. “Our customers can reap the benefits of seamless UC solutions that are based on carrier class platforms and enhance mobility applications and services on any device.”
