According to market research conducted by Squire Technologies, denial of service attacks have caused increasing concern for customers. After assessing the market, the company decided to take its carrier-grade class 5 softswitch (SV1-C5) a stage further.
As part of its latest software upgrade, the telecom industry’s signaling specialists decided to release a carrier-grade class 5 softswitch with built-in session border controller functionality-SV1 Release 11, according to company officials.
By itself, the SV1-C5 is touted to be one of the most secure and resilient softswitches in its category, and with the current built-in SBC functionality, it’s expected to provide comprehensive firewall security and denial of service protection.
According to company officials, the SVI Release 11 has enabled the standard Class 5 features common across the industry, such as call forwarding, select call acceptance/rejection, Voicemail and Voice Announcement along with a host of other features, and through Squire Technologies’ management System- the SVI-MS.
However, to enable users of the Class 5 to configure their services in a secure environment, the company has also developed a new self-care Web portal.
"Class 5 services are all about configuration, and the feedback we've had about the portal has been unilaterally positive in that it allows for straightforward setup of all the services we offer, whilst also allowing our customers to present the portal under their own branding," noted Joe Williamson, product manager at Squire technologies.
Squire Technologies has also combined Class 5 with its SQL development kit- the SVI-SDK. This move is expected to help customers rapidly create and deploy new services.
In related news, Squire Technologies has enabled U.S. carrier CoreTel to create new services over its Media Gateway Controller, which enables clients to interface their VoIP networks to SS7 PSTN-based telephone networks, allowing the rapid launch of VoIP services, NAS Model Dial-UP and distributed networks.
