XL Axiata Invests in CSG TSM Systems to Consolidate into Single Mediation Solution

One of Indonesia’s cellular service providers, XL Axiata has signed a deal with BSS major CSG Systems (News - Alert) International. Under the contract, CGS Systems will provide XL with its Total Service Mediation (TSM) for the implementation of a single mediation solution for prepaid and postpaid services. This is a major contract for CSG Systems in the Asia Pacific telecom market.
XL offers an array of innovative telecommunication products and services ranging from voice, SMS, VAS to mobile data covering more than 90 percent of the population throughout Indonesia. Having a subscriber-base, as large as over 46 million, XL was looking for a solution that would provide the company with better operational management and improve business processes.
Director of technology at XL Dian Siswarini said that XL Axiata selected CSG on the basis of high performance, proven scalability with huge volumes, and best-in-class ease of use and in-region support.
By using CSG Total Service Mediation, the Indonesian telecom operator will be able to replace multiple legacy mediation systems with a single solution for online and offline mediation.
Consolidating into a single mediation solution will allow XL not only to simplify its system architecture and back office operations, it will also help it improve revenue management and lower the total cost of ownership for mediation. It will then be easier for the service provider to adequately support the company’s growth, which is expected to be reach 19 billion voice and data transactions a day. With CGS TSM, XL will be capable of supporting online processing for billions of events per day, at throughput rates of over 46,000 transactions per second, according to a statement.
The solution is deployed in a highly available N+1 architecture which ensures no revenue data is lost.
CGS TSM is being used by world’s some of the major mobile operators such as Aircel, Celcom, Maxis, Reliance Communications, SingTel (News - Alert) Optus, True Move, Telstra, Mastercard, DHL and more. According to CSG, its TSM solution has built a global reputation for excellence as a cost-effective but highly robust solution that can give telecom operators like XL the fast time to value they need.
In total, XSG TSM has over 200 installations worldwide, supporting a wide variety of service delivery networks, with the reliability and security needed for revenue management or other business-critical applications, its maker said.
