Tangoe (News - Alert), Inc., a global provider of communications lifecycle management (CLM) software and related services, offers a real-time expense management that helps carriers and enterprises around the world prevent unanticipated roaming charges, or bill shock. Tangoe’s comprehensive CLM solutions, including Real-Time Telecom Expense Management (rTEM), provide visibility and control of mobile expenses for carriers and businesses, enabling compliance with the European Parliament’s regulations regarding roaming on public mobile telephone networks and other potential regulations by government agencies.
"The European Union is only the first of many global entities that may regulate mobile roaming costs. In addition to the requirements of recent regulations, mobile carriers have long recognized bill shock prevention as an essential part of protecting their users and reducing operating costs," said Daniel Rudich, SVP rTEM business development, Tangoe, Inc. "Tangoe's solutions take mandated roaming bill caps even further by offering predictive analytics and real-time usage alerts for end users, thereby enabling the elimination of excessive roaming costs before they are incurred. Tangoe's rTEM solutions provide mobile users with a comprehensive suite of solutions that can protect users from unexpected and costly overages in their mobile bills, allowing them to focus on growing their businesses and optimizing their workforce productivity."
According to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC (News - Alert)), more than 30 million Americans experience bill shock annually. These unexpected expenses are driven by an array of factors including the end of unlimited data plans, business travel and roaming usage, and the ambiguity between work and home communications.
The ambiguity may also be due to the increasingly popular Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend. Centrify Corp. offers Centrify DirectControl for Mobile, which provides deployment of mobile device management to secure company-owned or employee-owned devices. The offering addresses BYOD concern by enabling enterprises to centrally secure and manage smartphones and tablets.
Tangoe's rTEM solutions allow the end user to receive critical, real-time usage information and proactively manage mobile usage costs in real-time, allowing the elimination of bill shock issues while reinforcing recent EU requirements for carriers to address bill shock issues with their mobile subscribers.
"Bill shock is a serious issue for both individual and business users," added Scott Wambolt, senior vice president, Bell Mobility. "Bell estimates that enterprise customers regularly pay as much as 20 percent more than their budgeted wireless data plans due to large file transfers to employees or using company equipment for personal reasons, which is magnified when roaming. Clearly, given today's environment, Bell Mobility recognized an opportunity to help companies address those overages. That's where Tangoe's rTEM solution comes in."
Tangoe helps carriers to eliminate barriers of adoption of mobile broadband solutions by offering tools that proactively alert users to device data, voice, SMS, and roaming consumption, as well as usage irregularities. In addition to real-time capabilities, Tangoe rTEM provides predictive analytics and visibility and control over mobile usage and associated costs, helping individuals and businesses avoid excessive charges once and for all.
