With more than six million active client licenses in the field, Wavelink (News - Alert) is a major provider of multivendor mobile device management, wireless infrastructure management, terminal emulation, voice enabling, and mobile application development software. It offers a variety of products, including Wavelink Avalanche Telicost, an innovative and powerful real-time telecom expense management SaaS (News - Alert) solution that allows small, medium and large businesses to dramatically reduce their telecom expenses. Avalanche Telicost proactively monitors, reports and analyzes data, voice, SMS and roaming consumption on your fleet of mobile devices.
The company announced this week that it has been working with Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL), the largest co-operative wholesaler in Canada, to assist with a refresh of its mobile device lineup with a new arsenal of mobile computers managed by Wavelink Avalanche and Avalanche Remote Control.
FCL had not completed an equipment refresh in a decade, and the company's industrial engineering team knew that expectations would be high. The FCL team's goal was to make the roll-out as quick, painless and inexpensive as possible. An existing customer of Wavelink's Terminal Emulation and Avalanche, the company's mobile device management product, FCL was looking for an integrated way to manage devices remotely and to quickly deploy new devices.
The solution enabled FCL to deploy 245 Psion Omnii mobile computers in four warehouse locations in just three weeks, five weeks less than estimated for the project’s completion. Previous estimates were based on FCL’s prior experiences, which often resulted in lengthy projects due to travel time and troubleshooting.
"We already knew about the day-to-day benefits of Wavelink's Terminal Emulation and Wavelink Avalanche," said Kent Kostuk, industrial engineering manager for FCL, in a statement. "But we were still amazed at how quickly it enabled us to roll-out new devices to our warehouses."
Avalanche Remote Control is a mobile helpdesk solution that provides administrators with an exact replica of what end-users are experiencing. Remote Control allows administrators to support device users in the field remotely, without actually having to be in the field with the physical device. This lets administrators provide assisted guidance for an end-user, thereby reducing mobile device downtime and increasing end-user productivity.
"Avalanche Remote Control accelerated our implementation and reduced our costs. We were able to resolve issues in less time without having to leave the home office," said Kostuk.
Wavelink offers a number of other enterprise mobility solutions, including mobile device and infrastructure management, emulation and connectivity, voice-enabled applications and wireless application development products.
"When customers' needs grow and change, Wavelink products like Avalanche and Terminal Emulation allow them to gain tremendous flexibility by adding newer mission critical devices as needed," said Stephen Bemis, vice president of worldwide sales for Wavelink. It is truly a future-proof solution set and we look forward to continue evolving our products alongside our customers."
