Recent research from Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) found that enterprise mobility management (EMM) solutions centered around mobile device management (MDM), telecom expense management and application management will rise in importance in 2013.
The growth for these applications is mainly driven by the popularity of bring your own device (BYOD) trend. The emergence of cloud applications like DropBox has added new layer of complexity in enterprises.
The market for enterprise mobility management will look crowded in 2013 with telecom carriers, specialist MDM vendors, unified communication vendors and systems integrators vying the large opportunities ahead in this space.
Unified Communications (News - Alert) as a Service (UCaaS) market for Australia is expected to rapidly expand to $1.1 Billion by 2018. The market will see a plethora of vendors, systems integrators and carriers who offer UCaaS in 2013.
The research agency also predicts the entry of non-traditional players and new integrators in this market space.
Apart from this, Frost & Sullivan also predicts a rising competition from OTT (Over the Top) players, especially in the communications and collaboration space. This demand will be driven by the increased use of over-the-top and social media applications, which companies will have to incorporate to develop better productivity in the working place to drive innovation.
“Making calls from social media platforms such as Facebook will be common in the future. OTT applications such as Skype (News - Alert), WhatsApp and Viber allow users to communicate for free over the Internet, reducing the costs of communication services," Audrey William, head of Research, ICT Practice, Frost & Sullivan ANZ, said. “There will be more OTT players in the marketplace offering voice and videoconferencing services in 2013 and beyond in the marketplace.”
Cloud-based contact centers are predicted to gain popularity in 2013. Many contact centers are looking to enhance customer service by delivering a superior mobile experience. The cloud is linking the experience from the mobile application and integrating that to the contact center that will drive a new of experience.
Another trend identified by Frost & Sullivan is the rise of big data opportunities. Combining structured and unstructured data will drive huge opportunities for vendors in the market.
"We are only at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to big data and the amount of information this will provide an organization in terms how all these pockets of data co-relate to each other will drive endless possibilities for organizations," stated William.
