National Technical Systems Opens New NEBS Testing Laboratory

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

National Technical Systems, a provider of engineering services, has just expanded its Silicon Valley Operations via a new 30,000-square-foot Environmental and Dynamics testing laboratory that will be located in the city of Newark, Calif. This new laboratory will feature NEBS testing, and will offer multiple services designed to meet rigorous testing and certification needs of the region's various hi-tech product manufacturers, with specialized services focused on the Telecom and Consumer Products industries, a press release revealed.

This new facility is located very close to the company's other testing laboratory which focuses on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Wireless testing.

"In addition to having the most up-to-date and the largest EMC capability in the Bay Area, NTS (News - Alert) Silicon Valley now has the largest, most extensively capable and professional Environmental Test Facility in this region. Our latest accomplishments will not only enable us to offer complementary services to our existing customers but also serve as a significant step in expanding our service offerings in the local market. We plan to conduct a series of Open Houses and other customer appreciation events in the upcoming months in order for customers to see the expansion effort and discuss ways to initiate a successful testing program here at NTS Silicon Valley,” said Chief Executive Officer, William McGinnis.

According to the release, NTS Silicon Valley was recently approved as a Verizon (News - Alert) recognized Independent Test Laboratory (ITL) under Verizon's NEBS Testing Certification Program, and is certified to conduct NEBS testing to various sections of the GR-63 CORE standard on telecommunications equipment to be sold for use in Verizon's high-I.Q. network.

"The NTS Silicon Valley laboratories are an integral part of the overall NTS service solution for Telecom and Commercial Product manufacturers," added McGinnis. "The dramatic expansion of our testing and certification capabilities in this location represents a key milestone in our plan to provide a complete portfolio of engineering services, not only for the many customers we already serve in this area but also new customers in the Aerospace and Defense industries. We are well positioned to take advantage of many synergies to facilitate our growth and development in new markets going forward."

Recently, NTS Silicon Valley also received accreditation from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation which makes sure that internal quality systems, technical staff and calibration are all complaint to the ISO/IEC (News - Alert) 17025:2005 standard. ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation is a requirement for the performance of testing to various GR-63 CORE, Telecommunications, Military and Industrial standards, a release stated.
