RadiSys, SURF and Adax Join together to Offer NEBS-Ready LTE Circuit Switched Fallback Solution to APAC Network Provider

RadiSys, SURF Communication Solutions and Adax (News - Alert) have just revealed a collaborative effort among the three telecom solution providers that will yield an important NEBS-ready tool crucial to the migration to LTE (News - Alert) - CSFB (Circuit Switched Fallback). This solution will then be given to a major APAC provider of wireless solutions that has yet to be disclosed.

The customer quickly noticed and liked the successful dynamic among the partners who have been working together to design a standards-based solution with an increased time-to-market. All three partners are also members of the RadiSys (News - Alert) Alliance Partner Program (RAPP), a press release stated.

"No single vendor can meet the complex needs of today's evolving telecommunications networks," said Drew Sproul, Adax director of marketing. "Close cooperation among all parties, focusing on the customer requirements, is essential to success, as we demonstrated here. Adax looks forward to many more such successes with RadiSys and SURF."

CSFB empowers mobile operators to have the ability to deploy these voice services quickly and cost effectively in order to be utilized alongside their LTE networks. In addition, it enables mobile devices to rely or “fall back” on GSM or UMTS domains for incoming or outgoing voice calls. Subscribers now have unlimited access to multiple circuit-switched functions such as international roaming, while being able to have LTE broadband access to the Internet. According to the release, this solution was created on the foundation of innovative off-the-shelf technologies from all three partners, seamlessly integrating Adax's flexible HDC3 interface cards and SURF's voice processing subsystem into RadiSys' ATCA server platform.

The CSFB solution was designed for TDM-based network services that are currently in use. RadiSys' carrier-grade ATCA-6006 5U platform, incorporated with SBCs and carrier blades, enables the Adax HDC3 and SURF/Rider AMC cards to work properly. Legacy voice and SS7 signaling come into the system on TDM links directly from the HDC3 T1/E1 ports. Voice channels are then transmitted to IP using I-TDM and sent to the SURF/Rider card which transmits VoIP packets to the network. Data services are taken care of by the LTE network or the legacy interface when there is no LTE connection available.
