Bytemobile Launches NEBS-Compliant Traffic Management System

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

Bytemobile (News - Alert), a provider of video optimization and Smart Capacity(TM) solutions for mobile network operators, has just unveiled its new product line – the T3000 Adaptive Traffic Management System. Bytemobile's T3000 Series clearly depicts the recent transition within the traffic management infrastructure to mobile networks which now allow operators to manage millions of mobile subscribers' access to content and applications through one integrated platform. Along with this suite of products, Bytemobile also released the NEBS-compliant T3100 Adaptive Traffic Manager.

A press release revealed that the T3100 was created with the intentions of being able to fully manage and support all mobile Internet Protocol (IP) traffic based on real-time network conditions. This will enable operators to improve customer satisfaction for their subscribers as they try to view videos from YouTube, Netflix and other video streaming sites, download and use Android and iPhone applications, and use Skype and Facebook (News - Alert) for video chats, the release stated. At the present time, these aforementioned incredibly popular sites drive over 50 percent of all data traffic on mobile networks. As traffic continues to grow at a rapid pace -- an estimated 25-35 times over the next five years -- operators are seeing problems arise due to a lack of room which requires them to look for alternative solutions.

"We built the T3000 Series to solve a fundamental problem in mobile networks. The increasingly bandwidth-hungry video, applications and rich multimedia content traversing 3G and 4G radio access networks today have become too complex for existing traffic management solutions," said Chris Koopmans, vice president of products at Bytemobile, in a statement. "While today's solutions are focused on three standard levels of traffic management, the T3100 -- as the industry's first Adaptive Traffic Manager -- can detect and react to network conditions in the cell, radio access network (RAN) and core in milliseconds. With intelligence that spans seven dimensions of traffic control and unparalleled control functions to inspect data traffic at all layers of the network, the T3100 measures each subscribers QoE in real time, enabling operators to dynamically adjust traffic flows to maximize the user experience."

Some of the major benefits of this NEBS-compliant product include: global traffic management; smart caching, which can quickly cache content that is used most in real time; selective optimization, which offers a more intelligent approach to traffic management; and network and application intelligence, which gives operators increased access to QoE metrics that are based on subscriber intelligence, according to the release.

Additionally, the T3000 system also gives operators an in-depth view of diverse mobile data usage patterns that can be utilized in order to analyze and increase efficiency of network resources.

In essence, the T3100 works as a control point between the Internet and the mobile network that boasts the ability to reduce operators’ total cost of ownership and can eliminate the need for various other network elements.
