NEBS: Telecom Platform Deployment Options from NEI Explored

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

All the fast-paced improvements are great for us consumers, sure, but it’s a problem for Telecom Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs) to bear the complexity, cost and burden of developing and supporting a mix of technologies.

Well, NEI has an answer to fix these problems, as company officials have introduced NEI's (News - Alert) LEAD (Lifecycle Engine for Application Deployment System) as a way to handle some of the issues involved in getting an application to market.

“From project inception, NEI provides design and engineering services that meet stringent industry and international compliance regulations,” company officials commented, noting that the LEAD system “encompasses the entire lifecycle and is supported by a disciplined approach to program management that enables flawless delivery.”

The LEAD system includes solution design, which means NEI designs its offerings from single platforms up to a complete frame of multi-vendor equipment, all designed to maximize application performance. It also has system integration with full manufacturing and integration capabilities, including frame integration and thermal testing that are backed by robust process controls to ensure predictable repeatable results.

The telecom platform deployment portfolio also features application management, software developed to deliver automated updates, monitor system health, perform back-ups and manage deployed appliances, as well as support and maintenance and service programs that extend product life span and maximize uptime.

In addition, NEI offers carrier communications platforms, dealing with ATCA, NEBS and DC-powered servers to solve complex design, integration and deployment problems, offering what NEI officials say is “a variety of expansion slots and I/O options required for installing high-end telephony boards, high-performance multi-core processors and high-reliability features such as RAID and redundant power.”

NEI also powers enterprise communications platforms, which company officials describe as “a broad range of reliable and robust platforms that address enterprise demands for communications and security applications,” such as IP PBX (News - Alert), recording, VoIP and media gateways.

About a month ago, TMCnet reported that, “Appliance deployment can be a challenge for any developer or technology provider as trends in the industry are constantly changing, deployment methods are expanding and new technologies are complicating the mix. Time to market is still a leading indicator for differentiation and these providers often struggle to gain that competitive edge. When partnering with an appliance deployment provider like NEI, many of these challenges can easily be overcome.”
