Telecom Platform Deployment Provider Movius to Launch Communication Applications Framework Engine

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Movius (News - Alert) Interactive Corporation, a provider of communications applications for telecom service providers, is launching a new Communication Applications Framework Engine, CAFÉ, at the upcoming CTIA Wireless (News - Alert) in New Orleans.

CAFÉ, which also acts as a social media interface, enables service providers to deliver new, relevant applications to their end-users in an affordable, rapid and cloud-ready environment. It helps operators generate revenues from new applications while also offering increased customer satisfaction.

The solution acts as a way to deliver highly scalable and reliable applications quickly. Service providers can utilize either the service provider’s own network, or the cloud.

Thanks to the software-based architecture, CAFÉ can handle real-time communications while reducing the cost and time needed to create, deploy and monetize new applications, according to company officials.

The high port density, scalable and multi-tenanted architecture enables significant OPEX (News - Alert) savings and helps reduce the carbon footprint to offer much greener application deployment. The combination of cloud technology and virtualization enables service providers to quickly create and teardown applications depending on market fit.

The application framework engine features an Applications Development Kit (ADK) that supports emerging and existing specifications and interfaces, as well as easy integration to a service provider’s infrastructure.

“As an established leader in telecommunications solutions, Movius understands not only the latest application trends, but also the market dynamics that constantly redirect the design of the underlying VAS platforms,” said Dominic Gomez, Movius president and CEO, in a statement.

“We have used all of our experience- stretching many years from the Americas, to Europe, Africa and Asia – to design and develop CAFÉ and I am very excited at the outcome,” Gomez added. “We aim to put a lot of smiles on the faces of our service provider visitors down in New Orleans.”

CAFÉ is capable of offering a wide variety of applications. In addition to supporting the delivery of Movius’ applications for converged messaging, conferencing and virtual communications, CAFÉ also offers a viable platform that supports third party application development.

CAFÉ is scheduled for general availability in the third quarter of 2012.
