Adax (News - Alert), a provider of high-performance packet-processing, security and network infrastructure for telecom applications, recently was selected by Torres Networks, a provider of policy control, network intelligence and mobile data offload solutions.
Torres will implement Adax’s platform consisting of Adax PacketRunner (APR) intelligent ATCA blades, PacketAMC boards and Ethernet switch technology for its Mobile Data Offload Gateway (News - Alert). These solutions offer a range of cost-effective and energy-efficient multi-slot ATCA systems.
"Adax has provided us carrier-grade hardware technology that is state of the art and that provides a robust, scalable platform for our cutting-edge, standards-compliant offload gateway for 3G and LTE (News - Alert) networks. Their support, both before and after the sales process, has been excellent," said Mukund Srigopal, director of Business Development at Torres Networks, in a statement.
Mobile data offload services provide service providers with highly scalable, cost-saving solutions to reduce the burden of mobile data traffic growth. ATCA-compliant telecom platform deployment solutions find applications in Femto Gateways, LTE-EPC nodes and Mobile Data Offload Gateways.
A major component of this solution is Adax QuickPort, a complete Linux development suite for the Cavium processor on the APR that makes the Adax platform truly application-ready. QuickPort enables the application developer to be up and running in a short period of time, reducing precious development time and costs.
Further, the Torres Mobile Data Offload Gateway enables service providers to offload Internet-bound traffic, bypassing the mobile packet core while only routing essential signaling packets into the core. This results in 70- 80 percent cost savings that are otherwise incurred in upgrading packet core infrastructure (GGSN, SGSN) to support high-volume mobile data traffic.
